BUILDING TECHNOLOGY 2
PROJECT 1 - Building Plans / Fire Protection Plans
In this project students are required to form their groups after the introduction to the course work. Each group is
required to choose one of the group members’ Architectural Design Studio 5 project to produce the
working drawing for the first project. Each group is required to follow the provided check list to develop
the selected Architectural Design Project 5 and bring the “DEVELOPED” floor plans in week 2 for
discussion with their tutors.
In a group of 5-6 we required to complete the following for submission: 1 full set Working Drawings (A1),
including (but not restricted to):
- Site Plan, Key Plan and Location Plan
- Building Plans (including roof plan), Sections and Elevations
- Door and Window schedules
- Natural Ventilation and Natural Lighting Schedules
- Firefighting (Bomba) Plans (separate set from the Building Plans)
Copies of any additional research on statutory requirements (including examples of Local Authority
submission forms, filled up), BOMBA calculations, materials or technology that was done in the course
of the assignment are to be attached/incorporated with the drawings.
Submission format: Full set A1 drawings. Please take note that ALL group members (for Project 1) must
to be present during all tutorial sessions. Any submission after 3pm is considered late and penalties will
apply
PROJECT 2 - Construction/ Technical Drawing & Detailing
In tandem with the main project of Architecture Design Project Studio 6, students are to demonstrate a
working knowledge of construction, technology, materials, structural system and building services in
preparing technical drawings for their final project. Students must take into account the functionality of
spatial requirement in relation to by-laws and regulations, ergonomics, environmental concerns and
other issues to ensure a good, healthy, safe and comfortable living environment for all users.
