PROJECT 1 - Structural Design Post Mortem
In a group of 5-6, we are required to select an architectural design from Studio 3 final project among groupmates which are not buildable and have a huge room of improvement in building structures. In this assignment, a series of modifications such as adding foundation, columns and beams had conducted as our proposal to build up this selected building with appraising the existing structural design. We are to point out the issues and solutions to improve the structural design followed by producing a new scheme with appropriate structural system. Furthermore, we need to discuss and appraise the existing structural system in terms of safety, feasibility, economy, optimization, integration, stability, strength and rigidity.

As for submission, we are require to produce an A4 academic report also showing both pre-modify and post-modify drawings within it.

PROJECT 2 - Structural Analysis of a bungalow
In this individual assignment, we are required to analyse a structural system in an actual bungalow which the gross area needed to be below 30 meter square. Besides, we need to modify/insert a new structural system in the architectural drawings by determining the appropriate sizes of structural components in a standard size such as beams, columns, walls and others. This assignment is designed to gauge our knowledge and understanding of the main topics in building structure.

In the report, we need to propose a new structural system in selected bungalow, analyse load distribution, column tributary area and lastly, furthermore conduct force calculation from selected components: 2 beam-to-beam connection, 2 beam-to-column connection, 1 intermediate column and 1 edge column, which is the important and aim of this assignment. Lastly, an A4 academic report is to be compiled for all plans, analysis and calculations.
